Job Description

This opportunity involves providing special education services in a full-time role within a middle school and a high school setting. The position focuses on delivering resource and co-teaching instruction to a caseload of approximately 30 students, emphasizing individualized support and inclusive education strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet students' unique learning needs.
  • Facilitate resource and co-teaching sessions to support diverse learners across middle and high school classrooms.
  • Collaborate with educators to adapt curriculum and instructional methods for students with special education needs.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with district and state guidelines.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to team discussions regarding student accommodations and interventions.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education (SPED) teaching license for Washington State.
  • Eligible for or possession of an ESA (Endorsement in Special Education) certification.
  • Experience working with middle and high school-aged students in special education settings.
  • Strong knowledge of co-teaching models and resource room instructional strategies.
  • Ability to manage a caseload of approximately 30 students effectively.
  • Comfortable conducting remote interviews and adhering to onboarding protocols, including fingerprinting requirements.

Location:

  • Position based within a school district serving areas such as Auburn, Tacoma, and Lakewood, Washington.

Additional Details:

  • Contracted role aligned with the academic year, from August through June 2027.
  • Weekly schedule averages 37.5 hours.
  • No direct district supervision provided (paraeducators or similar roles not assigned).
  • Interviews conducted remotely via Zoom for convenience and efficiency.
  • Immediate hiring decisions to support a timely start.
