Job Description

A full-time position is available for a Special Education Teacher to serve middle and high school classrooms within a school district in the Spanaway, WA area. This contract role spans the academic year from August through June 2027, encompassing approximately 37.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing specialized instruction and support to a resource co-teaching caseload of roughly 30 students, focusing on both middle and high school age groups.
  • Collaborating with classroom teachers to adapt lessons and develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
  • Monitoring student progress through assessments and adjusting strategies as necessary.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and complying with district and state special education guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education (SPED) teaching license for the state of Washington.
  • ESA (Educational Staff Associate) certification.
  • Experience working with middle and high school students in special education settings.
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently without district-provided supervision.

Additional details:

  • Interview process is conducted remotely via Zoom.
  • Background fingerprinting is required prior to the start.
  • No additional training will be provided upon placement.
  • Contract signing is completed prior to commencing the assignment.
  • Position supports a dedicated caseload in one middle school and one high school classroom.
