Job Description

Step into a meaningful contract opportunity as a School Social Worker supporting K-12 students for both summer and regular academic sessions. Make an impact in a Special Education District, fostering growth and providing vital services for students of all ages and abilities. The role offers a dynamic blend of responsibilities throughout the Extended School Year (ESY) from late June to early August (up to 25 hours per week), followed by the regular school year (NSY) from mid-August through early June (up to 35 hours per week).

Essential Qualifications:

  • Active Michigan School Social Worker certification (310), or eligibility for supervision while working toward certification
  • Previous experience working as a school social worker, with expertise in special education support
  • Passion for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to serve diverse student populations
  • Strong communication, advocacy, and crisis intervention skills
  • Ability to organize and manage a flexible schedule between ESY and NSY assignments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide evidence-based social work services to students K-12 as part of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Conduct student assessments and participate in eligibility determination meetings
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to implement supports for student success
  • Deliver counseling, crisis intervention, and social skills training
  • Maintain clear and thorough documentation in compliance with district and state requirements
  • Support a positive and inclusive school climate
