Job Description

A full-time Social Worker position is available at an elementary school in Sterling Heights, MI. This contract role offers a 35-hour per week schedule for the current school year, working directly within a school setting to support students social and emotional needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide counseling and support services to students facing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop individualized intervention plans.
  • Conduct assessments and referrals for additional community or healthcare services when needed.
  • Facilitate crisis intervention and provide resources to ensure student well-being.
  • Maintain confidential student records and comply with applicable laws and regulations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Licensed or certified social worker with experience in school settings.
  • Strong understanding of child development and social/emotional learning.
  • Ability to work effectively with elementary-aged children.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of healthcare resources related to student mental health a plus.
