Job Description

This contract position offers a unique blend of summer and school-year responsibilities, providing essential services and advocacy for students throughout their educational journey.

Schedule Overview:

  • Extended School Year (ESY): 6/30/2026 8/6/2026, up to 25 hours per week
  • New School Year (NSY): 8/17/2026 6/11/2027, up to 35 hours per week

Key Qualifications:

  • Current and active Michigan school social worker certification (310) or eligibility with supervision plan in place
  • Demonstrated expertise in social work practice within K-12 school settings
  • Special education experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of IEP development and social-emotional interventions for diverse student needs
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to adapt services to meet a range of age groups and backgrounds

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and indirect social work services to students in special education programs
  • Conduct evaluations, contribute to IEP teams, and maintain comprehensive documentation
  • Partner with educators, families, and staff to implement evidence-based interventions
  • Participate in crisis response, assessment, and behavior management planning
  • Promote positive mental health and well-being, serving as a resource and advocate
  • Guide students and families through transitions, accessing community and school resources
