Qualifications and Skills:
- Licensed or certified as a School Social Worker (per state requirements)
- Experience working with elementary, middle, and/or high school populations
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, crisis intervention, and special education processes
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate effectively with students, families, and school staff
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing needs
- Compassion, cultural sensitivity, and a passion for student advocacy
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and provide direct counseling services to students struggling with social, emotional, behavioral, or academic challenges
- Develop and implement intervention strategies to meet individual student needs
- Facilitate group counseling sessions and classroom presentations promoting positive mental health and social skills
- Collaborate with educators, administrators, and families to develop and monitor student support plans
- Serve as a liaison and resource for connecting students and families with community services
- Maintain accurate, confidential documentation of services and student progress
- Respond to crisis situations with professionalism and care, following district protocols
