This full-time, onsite social work position supports students across a district in a school setting located in Niles, MI. The role operates under a W-2 contract and welcomes travel professionals interested in contributing to a supportive educational environment.
Responsibilities include providing direct social-emotional and behavioral support services to students on an individual and small group basis. The professional will conduct thorough assessments to uncover social, emotional, and environmental factors affecting learning outcomes. Developing and implementing behavior intervention plans in collaboration with staff and families is essential, as is supporting students with IEPs by aligning social work services to their specific goals. Participation in multidisciplinary team meetings to assist with eligibility and service recommendations is required. The role also involves collaborating with teachers, administrators, counselors, and other support staff to foster a positive school climate, as well as delivering crisis intervention, restorative practices, and conflict resolution.
Qualifications for this position include a Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program, along with full or temporary approval as a School Social Worker in Michigan. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of MTSS, trauma-informed practices, and social-emotional learning. Authorization to work in the United States is mandatory, along with the ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.
