Make a meaningful impact as a School Social Worker in a thriving educational community near Muskegon, MI! This full-time, contract role (35 hours per week) will support students, families, and staff for the 2026-2027 academic year, providing essential social and emotional assistance in a school-based setting.
Working collaboratively with staff and leveraging your expertise, youll foster a supportive environment and connect students with the resources they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Social Worker licensure in Michigan (or eligibility for licensure)
- School-based social work experience, or strong transferable skills from clinical/community settings
- Solid understanding of adolescent development and behavioral interventions
- Knowledge of IEP processes and special education supports is a plus
- Confident communicator; able to collaborate with educators, administrators, and families
- Compassionate approach and strong crisis-resolution skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and provide short-term individual and group counseling for students
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on IEPs, 504 plans, and student intervention strategies
- Connect students and families to community resources and supports as needed
- Deliver prevention and intervention programs to promote positive school climate
- Support staff in addressing student mental health and behavioral needs
- Maintain confidential records in accordance with district and state guidelines
