Make a genuine difference in the lives of young learners as a School Social Worker for an elementary setting on a full-time contract basis. This dynamic opportunity, starting in August and running through late May, allows you to contribute your expertise to support students well-being and academic success. Youll serve one elementary location, working collaboratively within a dedicated educational community.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Illinois SSW (School Social Worker) license required
- Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) necessary
- Prior experience in a school or similar child-focused environment is highly valued
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration
- Ability to create a supportive, trusting rapport with children and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct counseling and social-emotional interventions to elementary-aged students facing emotional, behavioral, mental health, or family-related challenges
- Empower students with strategies to foster resilience and positive coping skills within the school environment
- Collaborate with teachers, administration, and other school professionals to create and maintain a safe and supportive educational atmosphere
- Act as a liaison and resource for students and families in navigating community services and addressing barriers to learning
- Monitor, track, and document student progress and response to interventions
- Engage in proactive problem-solving to support attendance, behavior management, and academic achievement
