Job Description
Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students across Grand Blanc, Lansing, and Detroit areas for the 2026-2027 academic year. This full-time role (35 hours per week, August 17 to June 11) focuses on providing intervention support and specialized services to K-12 special education students in a school setting. Candidates must be passionate about helping students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, and comfortable working onsite.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited college or university
- Fully licensed as a Social Worker or possess an MSW Limited License
- Must hold one of the following: Preliminary School Social Worker Certificate (PSSWC), Professional School Social Worker Certificate (PSWC), or School Social Worker Permit (SSWP)
- Active LARA license required
- Experience providing direct support to students with special needs, including conducting individual and group interventions
- Comfortable leading small groups and working 1:1 with students
- Skilled in collaboration with educators, families, and community partners
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, assess, and evaluate the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of special education students
- Develop and implement behavior management plans and support strategies
- Consult with school staff and manage cases for students receiving multiple services
- Deliver both individual and group counseling tailored to address students unique challenges
- Participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and parent conferences to ensure comprehensive support
- Conduct home visits to foster stronger school-family relationships when needed
- Respond to and report child abuse or neglect cases, implementing crisis interventions as appropriate
