Job Description

Step into a meaningful contract opportunity supporting K-12 students across Grand Blanc, Lansing, and Detroit as a School Social Worker for the 2026-2027 academic year (August 17th to June 11th, 35 hours per week). This vital role serves special education students, empowering their academic, social, and emotional success within school communities.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution
  • Michigan licensure: LARA license required
  • Valid Preliminary School Social Worker Certificate (PSSWC), Professional School Social Worker Certificate (PSWC), or School Social Worker Permit (SSWP)
  • Fully licensed Social Worker or MSW Limited License holders are welcome
  • Proven experience working with K-12 students, especially within special education settings
  • Comfortable providing both group and one-on-one intervention support
  • Willingness to work onsite and participate in school and family outreach

Responsibilities:

  • Assess and identify the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of special education students
  • Develop and implement behavior management plans and support interventions
  • Offer individual and group counseling to students, fostering resilience and coping skills
  • Collaborate actively with educators, administrators, and community partners to enhance student well-being and academic achievement
  • Provide case management for students requiring multiple supports or services
  • Take part in IEP meetings, student evaluations, and parent conferences, ensuring holistic support for every learner
  • Conduct home visits and educate families to strengthen engagement in each child's education
  • Address crisis situations, including reporting child abuse or neglect as necessary
