Job Description

Take on a rewarding contract role supporting mental health and social-emotional growth for high school students. Located near Lake Orion, MI, this position focuses on providing individual and group counseling to general education students and collaborating on school-wide initiatives promoting positive behaviors. You will be based at a high school within Lapeer County, working closely with classrooms and staff to address student needs throughout the academic year.

Key Qualifications:

  • Masters degree required (client will not consider bachelors-level candidates)
  • Valid LARA license in Michigan (or pursuing licensure per state guidelines)
  • Background in school counseling, social work, psychology, or related field as described: Licensed/limited licensed masters-level psychologist MDE credentialed masters-level school psychologist Licensed/limited licensed masters-level social worker Licensed/limited licensed masters-level marriage and family therapist Licensed/limited licensed masters-level professional counselor School Counselor License, Michigan Teaching Certificate with School Counselor (NT) endorsement, Preliminary or Temporary School Counselor credential meeting state progression requirements
  • Proficiency in Google tools, electronic documentation, and SOAP note format

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions for general education students
  • Practice and document with accuracy using SOAP notes and electronic health records
  • Participate in implementing professional learning sessions and positive behavior interventions
  • Collaborate with school staff and families for holistic student support
  • Support crisis intervention and referrals as needed
