Make a meaningful impact as a Bilingual School Social Worker for a contract position focused on initial evaluations for preschool students. This role centers around providing a vital bilingual (Spanish) assessment in a supportive child study team environment. Located in the Washington, NJ area and starting as soon as possible, this assignment involves a single student evaluation, with student hours from 8:30 AM 2:30 PM and staff hours from 8:00 AM 2:55 PM. The evaluation report is due by July 1, 2026.
Ideal candidates are passionate about supporting early learners and thrive working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams. Your expertise will ensure comprehensive, culturally and linguistically appropriate evaluations to best support young children and their families.
What were looking for:
- Valid School Social Worker certification in New Jersey
- Masters degree in Social Work from an accredited program
- Fluency in Spanish; experience providing bilingual assessments in an educational setting
- Previous experience with preschool-aged children preferred
- Strong understanding of the child study team process and special education evaluations
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills
- Commitment to meeting deadlines and upholding confidentiality
Primary responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive initial evaluation for a preschool student as part of a child study team
- Perform bilingual assessments in both Spanish and English
- Collaborate with other team members, families, and stakeholders
- Prepare detailed evaluation reports and present findings to guide next steps
- Ensure all assessments and documentation comply with district and state guidelines
