Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract position supporting middle school students as a long-term substitute social worker for the 2026-2027 academic year. This full-time role is dedicated to providing essential social-emotional and behavioral supports within a collaborative educational environment. Youll work onsite with a caseload of 19 general and special education students, primarily supporting autism and MoCI programs for grades 6-8, while fostering a proactive approach to mental health and well-being.
Key Qualifications:
- Masters in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program
- Current Michigan SSW certificate; LLMSW with SSW cert considered, fully licensed preferred
- Experience with students with autism and cognitive impairments preferred
- Working knowledge of school-based social-emotional learning and proactive behavior support
- Familiarity with Ukeru and/or CPI training advantageous
- Strong communication skills and an ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Deep understanding of maintaining compliance with federal, state, and district policies, including documentation, confidentiality, and reporting
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consult services to general and special education students
- Support the implementation of social-emotional learning curriculum school-wide
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized support plans and positive behavior interventions
- Maintain timely, accurate records following Michigan special education guidelines
- Collaboration with teachers, administrators, counselors, and student support teams
- Participate in threat assessments, crisis response, and child study team meetings
- Provide Medicaid billing for eligible students mental health services
- Foster inclusion and positive behavioral outcomes for students with diverse needs
