Qualifications:

  • Valid New Mexico Social Worker license (required)
  • Current NMPED certificate (required)
  • Previous experience working in a school setting is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of the developmental, academic, and behavioral needs of elementary students
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to assess student needs, develop interventions, and foster positive relationships

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct social-emotional support and counseling to elementary students
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to develop and implement effective intervention strategies
  • Assist with crisis intervention and connect students/families to appropriate community resources
  • Monitor student progress and maintain comprehensive documentation
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, supporting individualized education plans and Section 504 plans
  • Advocate for students well-being and coordinate resources to address barriers to learning
