Key Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution
- Active state licensure or eligibility for school-based social work in Alabama
- Prior experience in school settings or with children/adolescents strongly preferred
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to quickly build rapport and develop trust with students, families, and staff
- Strong understanding of crisis intervention, mental health supports, and community resources
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and culturally responsive practices
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direct social-emotional support and counseling to students facing academic, social, or behavioral challenges
- Conduct assessments, develop individual intervention plans, and track student progress
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and families to coordinate student support efforts
- Serve as a liaison between school, families, and external agencies to ensure wraparound support
- Advocate for students, ensuring access to necessary services and resources
- Facilitate group or classroom social-emotional learning activities as needed
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams, IEP/504 meetings, and crisis response teams
