Step into a meaningful role supporting elementary students well-being as a licensed School Social Worker for the upcoming academic year. As a valued part of the school community, you will provide essential counseling and social-emotional interventions to students navigating behavioral, emotional, and family challenges. Your work empowers children to build coping strategies, overcome obstacles, and thrive both in and out of the classroom.
This full-time contract opportunity spans from August 11 to May 27 and is based at an elementary school. Youll collaborate closely with families, educators, and local agencies, creating a strong support network for students and connecting them with valuable resources.
Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois School Social Worker (IL SSW) license
- Professional Educator License (PEL)
- Demonstrated experience supporting students in elementary school settings
- Strong knowledge of behavioral, emotional, and social development in children
- Effective communicator with multicultural sensitivity and empathy
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling to students facing social, emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges
- Develop and implement plans to support attendance, academic success, and positive behavior
- Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, staff, parents, and external agencies
- Identify barriers to learning and coordinate services connecting families to resources and supports
- Advocate for students needs within the school community
- Maintain thorough, confidential documentation
