Job Description

Step into a meaningful role supporting elementary students well-being as a licensed School Social Worker for the upcoming academic year. As a valued part of the school community, you will provide essential counseling and social-emotional interventions to students navigating behavioral, emotional, and family challenges. This full-time contract opportunity spans from August 11 to May 27 and is based at an elementary school. Youll collaborate closely with families, educators, and local agencies, creating a strong support network for students and connecting them with valuable resources.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Illinois School Social Worker (IL SSW) license
  • Professional Educator License (PEL)
  • Demonstrated experience supporting students in elementary school settings
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral, emotional, and social development in children
  • Effective communicator with multicultural sensitivity and empathy
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and families

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students facing social, emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges
  • Develop and implement plans to support attendance, academic success, and positive behavior
  • Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, staff, parents, and external agencies
  • Identify barriers to learning and coordinate services connecting families to resources and supports
  • Advocate for students needs within the school community
  • Maintain thorough, confidential documentation
