A Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) role is available for a K-12 school setting in Newport News, VA. This contract position is open for both part-time and full-time schedules throughout the current school year (CSY). The ideal candidate will support speech-language pathologists in delivering effective speech and language services to students across a range of needs.
Responsibilities:
- Assist licensed speech-language pathologists in implementing therapy plans
- Support group and individual speech/language activities under supervision
- Participate in student progress monitoring and data collection
- Prepare materials and resources for therapy sessions
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to enhance student communication outcomes
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards within the school setting
Qualifications/Experience:
- Certification or training as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) specific to school environments
- Familiarity with K-12 educational settings and student age groups
- Ability to follow therapy plans and adapt activities as directed
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students and school staff
- Commitment to professional ethics and maintaining student confidentiality
