Make an impact on students communication development as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) supporting schools in the Birmingham, AL area. As a valued SLPA, youll collaborate with licensed Speech-Language Pathologists to implement therapy plans and help students achieve their speech and language goals throughout the school year.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Associates degree from an SLPA program or a bachelors in Communication Sciences and Disorders (or equivalent)
- Valid state licensure or eligibility as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant
- Previous experience supporting children or young adults in a school or pediatric setting preferred
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Enthusiasm for working in education and promoting student success
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Carry out therapy activities under the guidance of a licensed SLP, targeting students individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Support small group or individual sessions to improve articulation, fluency, language, and social communication
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and session notes
- Prepare materials and resources to enhance therapy sessions
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with school staff and families as directed
- Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations for service delivery and documentation
