A rewarding opportunity is available for a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide FMLA coverage in an elementary school setting located in Wheeling, IL. This contract position spans from late March through early June, offering meaningful clinical experience in a general education environment.
Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Speech-Language Pathologist license
- Professional Educator License (PEL) in Illinois
- Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred
- Experience working with pediatric populations in schools
- Familiarity with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices is a plus
Position Details:
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM (30 hours per week)
- Caseload: Approximately 45 students, all in general education classrooms
- Age Group: Elementary school students with a variety of speech and language disabilities
- School environment: No specialized programs; diverse needs including students using AAC devices
Responsibilities:
- Conduct speech and language assessments and provide individualized therapy to students
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to integrate services within the general education setting
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with school policies and state regulations
- Participate in team meetings to discuss student progress and intervention strategies
- Support students communication needs utilizing evidence-based practices, including AAC when applicable
