Job Description

A full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidate is sought for a rewarding contract position within a supportive school district in Southern New Mexico. This opportunity is based at an elementary school located in Vado, NM, with the option to discuss part-time schedules if the candidate will be on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver speech-language therapy services to a caseload of approximately 60 students, including those in structured communication classrooms (SCCs).
  • Provide individualized therapy focusing on current needs; compensatory planning is managed separately by the district.
  • Collaborate with a team of SLP professionals, including bilingual therapists, to support diverse student populations.
  • Engage with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) tools where applicable, with an openness to learning if previously inexperienced.
  • Maintain compliance with state and district policies, including documentation and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid New Mexico state licensure as an SLP is required prior to the start date; candidates must have already applied, as the licensure process may take time.
  • New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) certification is required but can be pending at the start of employment if licensure is in place.
  • Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) preferred.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus but not mandatory due to existing bilingual staff.
  • Experience or willingness to work with AAC is advantageous.
  • Ability to start immediately and continue through the end of the school year.

Location Benefits: The position is located in the scenic Las Cruces area of southern New Mexico, known for its beautiful surroundings and proximity to White Sands National Park. Nearby cities include El Paso, TX, just 46 miles away, opening recruitment to candidates in that area as well.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a small, very supportive district that values and appreciates its speech therapy staff. If you meet the licensure requirements and are ready to make a positive impact in an encouraging environment, please submit your application.
