Make a positive impact this school year as a Speech Language Pathologist serving elementary students in a dynamic, collaborative educational environment near Portsmouth, VA. This full-time contract position places you in a well-supported, team-oriented program with a strong emphasis on collaboration with educators, support staff, and other therapists.
In this role, youll work with students exhibiting varying levels of behavioral challenges, from those in functional settings to inclusion classrooms. Qualifications:
- Active Virginia SLP license (or in-process and expected to be active by August)
- Experience working in school settings, particularly with students exhibiting behavioral disorders
- Ability to adapt therapeutic approaches to functional and inclusion settings
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to delivering individualized, evidence-based interventions
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders for elementary-aged students
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's specific needs
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and families to ensure holistic care and student progress
- Monitor, document, and report student progress and therapy outcomes
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing training
