This school-based position, located in Birmingham, Alabama, runs from August 7 through June 10. Your specific assignment will be determined by current caseload needs and location requirements, allowing you to provide invaluable support where its needed most on an on-site basis.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders from a regionally accredited institution.
- Valid Professional Educator Certification.
- Strong background in the laws, rules, and regulations relevant to the education and services for children with disabilities.
- Solid understanding of pediatric and adolescent cognitive and physical development, as well as diagnostic tools for assessing student needs.
- Familiarity with terminology related to physical and learning disabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and compile data in accordance with legal and institutional guidelines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Preferred: ASHA Certification and ABSESPA Licensure.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, diagnose, and provide direct therapy services to students with a range of speech, language, and communication needs.
- Collaborate with educators and families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Maintain accurate records and progress reports in compliance with school and state regulations.
- Act as a knowledgeable resource for colleagues and families regarding speech and language development.
