Make a lasting difference in a students life with this fulfilling contract opportunity working directly with a first-grade student who requires dedicated care. In this unique role, youll collaborate closely with both educational staff and families to provide comprehensive nursing support to a child with complex medical needs, including care for a congenital heart and lung condition. Your expertise will be instrumental in supporting a safe, inclusive learning environment for this remarkable student.
You will support the student throughout the school day, ensuring their comfort, safety, and participation in classroom activities. The contract runs for the full academic year, with part-time hours (two days per week), and you'll work onsite at a single school location.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid RN license in Oregon
- Experience supporting pediatric populations, ideally in a school or healthcare setting
- Strong skills in ventilator management and respiratory care (including administering breathing treatments, tube maintenance, and suctioning as needed)
- Comfort with toileting assistance and adaptive care needs
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, school staff, and families
- Attentive, compassionate, and patient-focused approach
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 direct nursing care for a young student throughout the school day
- Monitor and maintain ventilator function and administer necessary respiratory treatments
- Perform routine and emergency respiratory interventions (clearing blockages, suctioning, etc.)
- Offer bathrooming and daily living assistance
- Maintain clear records of care and communicate with school and medical teams
- Foster a supportive, nurturing environment in partnership with educational staff
