Job Description

Experience the reward of making a difference in the life of a young student by providing dedicated 1:1 nursing care in an educational setting. This contract opportunity is perfect for an experienced Registered Nurse who thrives in a school environment and has a passion for supporting students with complex medical needs. Youll work two days per week throughout the full school year, focusing on one first-grade student who requires ventilator support due to a congenital heart and lung condition.

Your expertise will be vital in managing the students ventilator, conducting breathing treatments, clearing blockages from tubes, and responding to suction needs as they arise. Additionally, youll assist with bathrooming and be a vital part of a collaborative support team, including educational staff, to help the student fully participate in their school day.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Current Oregon RN license (required)
  • Experience with pediatric patients, especially those with respiratory support needs
  • Strong understanding of ventilator care, suctioning protocols, and emergency response
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate with school staff and healthcare providers
  • Previous school nursing, pediatric, or special education setting experience preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide continuous monitoring and care for a first-grade student with complex needs
  • Manage ventilator equipment and perform necessary respiratory treatments
  • Promptly address and resolve blockages to maintain airway patency
  • Support daily living needs, including assisting with bathrooming
  • Communicate effectively with school staff and external healthcare professionals
