A fulfilling contract opportunity is available for a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to support high school students with moderate to severe disabilities. This rewarding role is centered in a collaborative environment, working closely alongside a compassionate and experienced SLP colleague. The position is part-time, with flexible schedulingcandidates may work 1-2 full days (7.5 to 15 hours/week), depending on preference and availability. The assignment runs from August 24, 2026, through June 4, 2027, with possible pre/post planning days.
Essential Qualifications
- Active North Carolina State License in Speech-Language Pathology
- Valid educator certification required
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (SLP-CCC)
- Depth of experience working with high school-aged students with moderate to severe medical needs
- Demonstrated expertise with a wide range of AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and speech-generating devices
- Strong clinical problem-solving and communication skills
- SLP-CFYs and SLPAs are not eligible for this position
Role Responsibilities
- Collaborate with existing school SLP to support students primarily through support plans, with minimal direct therapy
- Manage a caseload of approximately 25-35 high school students, focusing on those who are nonverbal or minimally verbal
- Provide in-depth consultation and practical support for students using AAC devices to further their communication goals
- Participate in student-centered team meetings and support documentation as needed
- Deliver compassionate, effective interventions in an inclusive and supportive school setting
