This opportunity is for a full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) clinician to support students at a welcoming elementary school in southern New Mexico. The position is based at an elementary campus with a caseload of approximately 60 students, including three Structured Communication Classrooms (SCCs). The role offers a chance to work in a supportive school district committed to student success.
Location: Las Cruces, NM (close to El Paso, TX, and near landmarks like White Sands National Park)
Position Type: Full-time preferred (40 hours), with part-time considered if candidate is able to be on-site. Contract position lasting ASAP through End of School Year (EOSY).
Responsibilities:
- Provide speech-language therapy services to caseload of students in school setting
- Prioritize current therapy needs; compensatory services to be determined by district
- Collaborate with bilingual and monolingual SLP colleagues in a supportive environment
- Implement therapy strategies for AAC users (experience preferred but willingness to learn essential)
- Maintain communication with educators and families to support student progress
Qualifications:
- Valid New Mexico state licensure in Speech-Language Pathology is required prior to start (applicants must have already obtained or be in process)
- PED certification through New Mexico Department of Education required (can be pending at start if licensure is secured)
- Experience or interest in AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) preferred
- Bilingual candidates ideal but monolingual applicants welcome due to existing bilingual staff support
- Eligible candidates may be recruited from nearby regions including El Paso, TX, Deming, and Truth or Consequences
