Job Description

This full-time contract opportunity is for a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) SLP to provide services in a supportive school environment located in Mesilla Park, NM. The position serves a diverse caseload primarily at Jornado Elementary within a well-established public school district in southern New Mexico, with service expected to begin ASAP through the end of the school year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver speech and language therapy to a caseload of approximately 60 students, including those in three structured communication classrooms (SCCs)
  • Focus on current therapy needs and caseload management, with no immediate responsibility for compensatory services
  • Collaborate with a team of bilingual and monolingual SLPs who provide a welcoming and helpful work atmosphere
  • Utilize or build skills related to AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) devices, with training and support provided
  • Maintain compliance with New Mexico state licensure and PED certification requirements

Qualifications:

  • New Mexico state licensure is required prior to start; candidates must have already applied or hold valid licensure
  • PED certification through the NM Department of Education is required; candidates can work in pending status if licensure is active
  • Bilingual candidates are highly desirable but not mandatory
  • Experience with school-based therapy preferred but willingness to learn AAC and adapt to caseload needs is essential
