Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting high school students with complex communication needs. This part-time speech-language pathologist role offers flexibilitywork 1 to 2 full days per week or collaborate to expand your hours. You'll join a compassionate peer SLP at a school renowned for its supportive atmosphere, serving a caseload of 2535 students primarily on support plans. Most students have moderate to severe medical needs, making experience with AAC devices essential as many require these tools to supplement or replace verbal communication.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Hold a current NC State License and Educator Certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP-CCC required)
  • Demonstrated expertise with a range of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices and speech-generating technologies
  • Prior work with high school-aged students, particularly those with moderate to severe disabilities, is strongly preferred
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills; ability to work seamlessly with an experienced and supportive colleague
  • Must be available for 1 or 2 full days weekly; interest in additional placements for extra hours is welcome

Role Responsibilities:

  • Assess, monitor, and support communication needs for a primarily support-plan caseload
  • Provide AAC expertise and direct consultation to students, families, and educational staff
  • Collaborate with a fellow SLP and wider school team to develop tailored communication strategies
  • Complete documentation and participate in IEP meetings as needed
  • Help facilitate smooth transitions and consistent support for students who are minimally verbal or nonverbal
