Make a meaningful impact supporting high school students with complex communication needs in a welcoming and collaborative setting. This contract opportunity is open to experienced Speech-Language Pathologists who excel with AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices and are ready to contribute their expertise alongside a dedicated, compassionate team member.
This assignment offers part-time flexibility: 1-2 full days per week are preferred (approximately 15 hours), but applicants interested in a single day (7.5 hours) or additional hours across other schools may also be considered. The primary caseload includes 25-35 studentsmost on support plans, with minimal direct therapyat a high school focused on serving students with moderate to severe disabilities.
Key Qualifications:
- Current North Carolina State SLP License and Educator Certification (CFYs and SLPAs are not eligible for this assignment)
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) required
- Extensive experience working with AAC and Speech Generating Devices (SGDs)
- Demonstrated success supporting high school students with severe, multiple disabilities
- Strong collaboration skills, with a team-oriented approach
- Compassion, flexibility, and a commitment to student-centered care
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Assess and implement AAC/SGD interventions for students who are nonverbal or minimally verbal
- Coordinate with a skilled on-site SLP to provide high-quality support
- Develop and monitor individualized support plans
- Collaborate with educators, staff, and families to maximize student communication
- Participate in pre- and post-planning as needed
