Job Description

A full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidate is sought for a contract position at a supportive public school district in La Mesa, NM. This role centers on providing exceptional therapy services at an elementary school campus, with a caseload of approximately 60 students, including three structured communication classrooms. The position is ideally full-time (40 hours), but part-time arrangements for on-site candidates may be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality speech and language therapy to students, focusing on current therapy goals and caseload needs.
  • Collaborate with a team that includes bilingual SLP professionals; bilingual candidates are preferred but not required.
  • Engage with students utilizing AAC devices, with a willingness to learn and grow in this area.
  • Support ongoing communication and collaboration within the school environment.
  • Adhere to all state licensure and certification requirements, including New Mexico licensure and PED certification.

Qualifications:

  • Valid New Mexico state licensure is mandatory; candidates who have already applied will be considered.
  • PED certification through the New Mexico Department of Education is required by the start date, but can be pending if the state license is held.
  • Experience or interest in working with AAC technology is a plus.
  • Bilingual skills are ideal but not essential due to the existing bilingual team.
  • Ability to manage a caseload of approximately 60 students with varying communication needs.

Location and Community: This position is located in La Mesa, NM, within a small, very supportive school district. The area offers a beautiful southern New Mexico environment close to major cities such as El Paso, TX (46 miles away), as well as proximity to attractions like White Sands National Park.
