Step into a dynamic contract role supporting students in a specialized Regional Day School Program for the Deaf (RDSPD) near Irving, TX. This full-time position focuses on providing speech-language pathology therapy for students in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) program. You'll collaborate with a skilled team of therapists, helping make meaningful progress in student communication and academic success.
Your expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) and communication strategies will be central as you serve primarily in a therapy-focused capacity. With approximately 130 DHH students supported by three therapists, you'll spend your time delivering direct therapy, while a colleague handles most evaluations. Your role is hands-on, making a genuine impact in a specialized school environment committed to accessibility and inclusion.
Qualifications:
- Active Texas SLP license required
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) or DHHT certification required
- Previous experience working with school-aged children preferred
- Prior experience with DHH students is highly valued
- Able to complete and pass Texas Education Agency fingerprinting/clearance process before start date
- Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for inclusive education
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized speech-language therapy to DHH students according to IEPs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to foster student development
- Engage families, educators, and staff to enhance student support
- Maintain accurate therapy notes, progress updates, and required paperwork
- Participate in department meetings and IEP conferences as needed
This position is exclusively on-site, enabling you to build strong relationships with students and other professionals. The contract runs from August 11, 2026, through May 28, 2027, for 37.5 hours per week within a welcoming and supportive school atmosphere.
