A contract-based speech-language pathologist role is available, working with an inspiring and compassionate colleague at a specialized high school. The setting primarily serves students with moderate to severe medical needs; experience with a range of AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and speech-generating devices is essential since many students rely on these systems for meaningful interaction.
Key Qualifications:
- Current North Carolina State License and Educator Certification required
- Minimum of SLP-CCC status (SLP-CFYs and SLPAs are not eligible)
- Demonstrated expertise supporting diverse AAC/Speech Generating Devices
- Prior experience working with high school-aged students with severe disabilities preferred
- Team-oriented mindset with strong communication and collaboration skills
Your Role:
- Manage a caseload of approximately 25-35 high school students on support plans (minimal direct therapy)
- Collaborate closely with a skilled SLP partner to implement, monitor, and adjust AAC systems and interventions
- Empower students by providing essential speech/language services and technical AAC support
- Contribute professional insight during pre/post planning periods if needed
- Flexible scheduling available: ideal candidates will cover 15 hours/week (2 days), but options exist for fewer or additional hours
