Job Description

Discover a meaningful opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of high school students with complex communication needs. A contract-based speech-language pathologist role is available, working with an inspiring and compassionate colleague at a specialized high school. The setting primarily serves students with moderate to severe medical needs; experience with a range of AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and speech-generating devices is essential since many students rely on these systems for meaningful interaction.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current North Carolina State License and Educator Certification required
  • Minimum of SLP-CCC status (SLP-CFYs and SLPAs are not eligible)
  • Demonstrated expertise supporting diverse AAC/Speech Generating Devices
  • Prior experience working with high school-aged students with severe disabilities preferred
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong communication and collaboration skills

Your Role:

  • Manage a caseload of approximately 25-35 high school students on support plans (minimal direct therapy)
  • Collaborate closely with a skilled SLP partner to implement, monitor, and adjust AAC systems and interventions
  • Empower students by providing essential speech/language services and technical AAC support
  • Contribute professional insight during pre/post planning periods if needed
  • Flexible scheduling available: ideal candidates will cover 15 hours/week (2 days), but options exist for fewer or additional hours

The opportunity extends throughout the traditional school year with the possibility to assist in planning periods as needed. With a supportive environment and a manageable caseload, you can focus your expertise and attention on students who benefit immensely from your specialized knowledge.

If youre passionate about fostering communication for students with significant needs and possess the required credentials, take the next step and apply today to enrich both your career and the lives of your students!
