Speech-Language Pathologist Responsibilities

As the school-based SLP, you will provide speech and language services designed to help students communicate effectively and participate successfully in their educational environment.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting speech and language evaluations and assessments
  • Providing individual and/or group speech and language therapy
  • Developing and implementing individualized therapy goals
  • Addressing articulation, receptive and expressive language, fluency, and other communication needs
  • Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate documentation
  • Participating in IEP meetings and collaborating on student goals
  • Working closely with teachers, families, special education professionals, and other members of the school team
  • Adjusting therapy approaches based on student needs and progress


SLP Qualifications

  • Active Oregon Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) license or appropriate Oregon credential
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred/required as applicable
  • School-based or pediatric experience preferred
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary school team
