Job Description

Embark on a rewarding school-based contract opportunity supporting a first-grade student with complex needs for the full academic year. This part-time assignment offers a unique chance to provide one-on-one clinical support in a collaborative educational environment, ensuring the students health, safety, and ability to thrive in the classroom. The position is located near Dufur, OR, and spans two days per week from August 28, 2023, to June 6, 2024.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current and active RN license in the State of Oregon (required)
  • Previous experience with pediatric populations, especially in school or healthcare settings
  • Comfort and competence in working with medically complex needs, including ventilator management and respiratory care
  • Ability to respond calmly and efficiently to urgent medical needs throughout the school day
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills, working closely with both educational and clinical teams

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care to a first-grade student with a congenital heart and lung condition, including ventilator oversight, breathing treatments, and airway maintenance
  • Perform suctioning and manage blockages as necessary
  • Assist with daily tasks such as bathrooming to ensure student dignity and comfort
  • Support the childs participation in school activities, collaborating with educators and support staff
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all nursing assessments and interventions
