Job Description

Step into a meaningful contract opportunity supporting a first-grade student with complex medical needs in a school environment. This position focuses on providing dedicated 1:1 care for a young learner who uses a ventilator due to a congenital heart and lung condition. Youll work closely with educational staff to create a nurturing and safe learning environment, helping this student access their education and reach their fullest potential.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Oregon RN license required
  • Experience in pediatric nursing, especially with medically complex children
  • Skill in ventilator management, breathing treatments, and emergency response
  • Ability to provide cares such as tube clearing, suctioning, and personal care support during the school day
  • Comfort collaborating effectively with students, teachers, and families
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities
  • Compassion, patience, and a commitment to inclusive education

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver all necessary medical care for a first-grade student during school hours
  • Monitor ventilator and immediately address any issues or blockages
  • Administer breathing treatments as prescribed
  • Support bathrooming and daily living assistance as needed
  • Communicate and coordinate care with school staff and educational support team
  • Maintain accurate and confidential health documentation
  • Foster a positive, reassuring presence to ensure the student remains engaged and included throughout the day
