Job Description

Join a rewarding opportunity as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) serving a specialized student population in a community school setting. This contract position is based in Detroit, MI, with services provided at one school within the Riverview Community School District. The role focuses on making impactful contributions to an adult transition program supporting students aged 18-25 as they develop independence, community skills, and work-based learning.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing direct speech therapy services to approximately 10-12 students from the adult transition program.
  • Delivering a caseload model of therapy tailored to individual communication needs.
  • Collaborating with district staff to ensure continuity of care and support student progress toward IEP goals.
  • Participating in team meetings and documentation utilizing the districts IEP system, with training provided.
  • Increasing frequency of service from 1 to 2 days per week to address gaps in delivered services.
  • Maintaining professional standards and communication with district contacts and department leads.

Desired qualifications and experience:

  • Hold a valid Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Possess experience in school-based therapy and working with transitional-aged students.
  • Ability to navigate caseload management and adapt therapy approaches to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Knowledge of IEP processes and documentation.
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

This position offers a contract engagement with approximately 14 hours per week over 2 days, providing meaningful impact in a dedicated therapy space within the school environment.
