Exciting opportunity available for an experienced professional passionate about providing sign language interpretation in an educational setting! This school-based contract position spans the entire academic year, starting as soon as possible and continuing through June 4, 2027. Youll work onsite, dedicating your skills to support a single kindergarten student with ASL/SLI needs in a dynamic learning environment.

Qualifications:

• Valid Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III OR
• Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher (with a passing written test) OR
• National Interpreter Certification (NIC) or equivalent recognized credential
• Experience working as an ASL/Sign Language Interpreter, preferably with school-aged children
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, and families
• Reliable and punctual, with a commitment to the students success

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for a kindergarten student within a school environment
• Ensure the students full access to curriculum, classroom activities, and peer interactions
• Adapt interpreting techniques to the students learning needs and classroom context
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
• Collaborate with educators and specialists to best support the students educational journey

This is a full-time, onsite role averaging 37.5 hours per week at a single school location, offering stable hours throughout the school year. Youll have the rewarding chance to make a measurable impact on a students growth in an inclusive, supportive academic setting.
