Job Description

Step into an impactful role supporting young learners as an in-person Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic educational setting. This contract opportunity is ideal for interpreters passionate about fostering accessibility for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Working closely with a kindergarten student, you'll provide crucial communication support and make a meaningful difference throughout the school year.

Start your assignment as soon as possible and continue through early June 2027 with a consistent weekly schedule of 37.5 hours. Youll collaborate directly within a welcoming school environment, helping bridge language and learning for a single kindergarten student as part of their daily educational experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III, an Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5+ with a passing written component, or recognized national certification such as NIC.
  • Demonstrated experience providing ASL interpretation in educational settings, ideally at the elementary level.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with students, teachers, and staff.
  • Strong organizational skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Must be comfortable working exclusively onsite.

Key Responsibilities:
