A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is available for the upcoming school year in Yorktown, VA. This onsite contract opportunity involves providing dedicated 1:1 support to a high school student requiring specialized communication services.

Qualifications and experience desired include:

• Valid Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III certification; or
• Passing score on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) Written Test along with a minimum Level 3.5 on the EIPA Performance Test; or
• Any other state qualification or national certification (excluding Certificate of Deaf Interpretation) recognized by the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (VDDHH) as equivalent to or exceeding VQAS Level III
• Professional experience interpreting within a school setting

Key responsibilities include:

• Deliver effective sign language interpretation services on a one-to-one basis for a high school student
• Facilitate clear and accurate communication in various educational environments
• Collaborate with educators and support staff to meet the students communication needs
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions
