Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills
- Experience interpreting within a school setting preferred
- Appropriate certification/licensure for educational interpreting as required by state standards
- Ability to adapt signing style to diverse age groups and individual needs
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Discretion, professionalism, and a passion for fostering inclusive learning environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear communication between deaf/hard of hearing students, staff, and peers
- Interpret classroom lessons, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
- Participate in team meetings to support student success and individualized plans
- Assist with the creation and revision of communication resources or materials when needed
- Uphold confidentiality, ethics, and standards governing educational interpreters
- Support ongoing integration of students in both academic and social settings
