Job Description

Make a meaningful impact supporting high school students as an onsite Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant educational setting near Woodstock, IL. Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Illinois Sign Language Interpreter license required
  • Prior experience working with school-aged students, with preference for those who have supported high school learners
  • Familiarity with educational settings and individualized student support plans (IEPs) is highly valued
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide interpretation services between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and staff in various academic and social settings
  • Facilitate clear communication during classroom instruction, assemblies, and school programs
  • Support students in both academic and extracurricular activities, fostering full participation in school life
  • Adapt interpreting style to meet the individual needs and learning preferences of each student
  • Collaborate with educational staff and student support teams to promote accessibility and inclusion
