Job Description

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid 3.5 EIPA score or higher
  • Active GAPSC certification
  • Prior experience in a school environment or with children preferred
  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and up-to-date interpreting techniques
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide sign language interpretation services for elementary-age students within classroom and school activities
  • Interpret classroom instruction, peer interactions, and school-wide events to ensure accessibility and inclusivity for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, support staff, and administration to identify and address individual student needs
  • Adhere to confidentiality guidelines and professional standards of practice
  • Adapt interpreting style and communication approach to suit a range of learning environments and student preferences
  • Document services provided and actively participate in educational planning meetings as required

This role is full-time, with 37.5 hours per week over a standard MondayFriday schedule. While the number of students on your caseload may vary, your skills will be vital to fostering a supportive, communicative educational experience.
