Job Description

Make a meaningful difference by providing vital communication access in an elementary school setting as a contracted Sign Language Interpreter. Located in Athens, GA, this position supports young learners by facilitating clear and effective communication between students, educators, and staff. With a standard Monday-Friday schedule and 37.5 hours per week, youll help elementary-aged students thrive academically and socially.

Qualifications:

  • Valid EIPA score of 3.5 or above
  • Current GAPSC credential
  • Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Previous experience in an educational or school environment preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional standards

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa in classroom settings, meetings, and school activities
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, other interpreters, and special education personnel
  • Adapt communication style to meet individual student needs
  • Assist with preparation and adaptation of classroom materials as needed
  • Support students understanding of classroom instruction and activities
  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with school and district guidelines
  • Contribute positively to an inclusive and accessible educational environment
