Key Qualifications:

  • Valid state credential for Sign Language Interpreting
  • EIPA score above 4.0 (required)
  • Experience providing interpretation in educational settings, particularly K-12, is highly valued
  • Strong expressive and receptive American Sign Language (ASL) skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork abilities
  • Adaptability and commitment to promoting student success

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide clear, accurate sign language interpretation during classroom instruction and school activities for students, staff, and parents
  • Facilitate effective communication between Deaf or Hard of Hearing students and school personnel
  • Prepare for lessons and school events to ensure consistent, high-quality interpretation
  • Collaborate with educators, counselors, and support staff to address student needs and enhance learning outcomes
  • Maintain professional and ethical standards, as outlined by interpreting best practices
