Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events.
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure accessibility for deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
- Assist in developing communication strategies tailored to individual student needs.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Adapt to varying educational settings and student requirements during travel assignments.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting experience.
- Knowledge of educational terminology and protocols.
- Ability to travel regularly to different school locations within Wilmington, DE, and surrounding areas.
- Strong communication skills and cultural sensitivity.
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter is preferred.
