Job Description

Bring your sign language expertise to a setting where your skills will directly impact student success. This contract opportunity is for a credentialed Sign Language Interpreter to support junior high students during the 2026/2027 school year. Work in partnership with a fellow ASL Interpreter, fostering access and inclusivity in the classroom environment.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated fluency.
  • Must hold an Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 4.0 or above.
  • Experience interpreting in educational settings preferred, especially at the junior high school level.
  • Strong understanding of Deaf culture and the unique communication needs of D/deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, staff, and fellow interpreters.

What Youll Do:

  • Deliver real-time interpreting services between spoken English and ASL during classes, school events, and meetings.
  • Partner closely with another interpreter to ensure consistent communication access for students.
  • Adapt interpreting methods as needed based on content, classroom dynamics, and student learning styles.
  • Provide interpretation for various school-related interactions, supporting active participation.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
