Requirements for this role include:
- Demonstrated proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter within educational settings
- Current certification and credentials as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)
- Minimum 3.5 score on the EIPA with completed written portion
- Flexibility for onsite work, with potential for virtual assignments as the school year approaches
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Ability to adapt communication styles for students across different grade levels and learning abilities
Key responsibilities for this position:
- Provide interpreting services in classrooms and school activities, ensuring clear, effective communication between students, staff, and peers
- Assist in facilitating understanding of instructional materials, lessons, and extracurricular events
- Work closely with teachers, special education teams, and families to support student access and achievement
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards of the profession
- Adapt interpreting methods to fit various instructional and individual student needs
This full-time role offers a consistent weekday schedule throughout the school year, with 37.5 hours weekly. Thirteen interpreter positions are available, offering you the chance to collaborate with other professionals committed to student success. Virtual opportunities may be considered as the academic year approaches for greater flexibility.
