Job Description

A position is available for a Sign Language Interpreter to support communication needs within educational settings. This travel role is based in Washington, Utah, providing services across various schools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff.
  • Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa accurately during classroom instruction and school events.
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure accessibility of curriculum and activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and promote an inclusive learning environment.
  • Travel between assigned schools within the region as required.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting experience.
  • Previous experience working in educational settings preferred.
  • Ability to adapt interpreting techniques according to context and age group.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout the assigned area.
