Qualifications and Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
Experience interpreting in educational or school-based settings
Knowledge of deaf culture and the unique needs of K-12 students
Ability to adapt interpreting styles to various classroom settings and instructional methods
Professional certification (such as EIPA, RID, or state credentials) preferred
Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret spoken communication into sign language (and vice versa) for students, faculty, and families during lessons, events, and meetings
Facilitate understanding and active participation for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
Support classroom activities, adapting communication methods to student needs
Collaborate with teachers and support staff to promote accessible, student-centered learning
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions
Participate in team meetings and contribute to IEP processes when required
