Job Description
Step into a meaningful role supporting student success as a Sign Language Interpreter. Make a daily impact by facilitating accessible communication for a high school student in a dynamic educational environment near Ventura and Oxnard, CA. This contract position balances a consistent schedule with hands-on engagement.
Youll serve as a vital bridge between educators, peers, and the student, bringing your expertise to onsite or virtual settings. The hours are designed to support work-life balance, with Monday-Thursday shifts from 10:18 AM 11:48 AM (Period 2), and 12:29 PM 1:59 PM (Period 3). Fridays follow a slightly adjusted timetable: 10:36 AM 11:50 AM and 12:31 PM 1:45 PM. Youll work 1:1 with a high school student, tailoring your approach to maximize their learning experience and engagement during key class periods.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Current Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Certification
- Passing score of 4.0 or higher on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA)
- Demonstrated professional interpreting experience in a school setting
- Strong commitment to fostering inclusion and student empowerment
In this position, your responsibilities include:
- Providing clear, accurate interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language
- Advocating for and supporting the specialized communication needs of your assigned student
- Collaborating with teachers and support staff to enhance classroom accessibility
- Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards
