A contract opportunity for a Sign Language Interpreter is available in Ventura, CA, serving a high school student in a 1:1 setting. This role is ideal for a professional interpreter with experience in educational environments, holding the appropriate certifications and dedicated to facilitating effective communication for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Location: Ventura, CA (near Oxnard)
Schedule:
- Monday to Thursday:
- Period 2: 10:18 AM 11:48 AM
- Period 3: 12:29 PM 1:59 PM - Friday (flexible schedule):
- Period 2: 10:36 AM 11:50 AM
- Period 3: 12:31 PM 1:45 PM
Work Environment: Onsite or virtual options available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clear and accurate sign language interpretation during assigned class periods.
- Support effective communication between the student, educators, and peers in a high school setting.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while adapting interpretation to meet the students needs.
- Collaborate with school staff to facilitate an inclusive educational experience.
Qualifications:
- Current RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) certification.
- Passing score of 4.0 or higher on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) preferred.
- Proven professional experience working as a sign language interpreter in schools.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse student populations.
