Make a significant impact supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter working full-time in the Santa Barbara, CA area! This in-person contract role offers the chance to facilitate communication and inclusion for deaf and hard-of-hearing students, helping to enrich their educational experiences and promote equal access.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Sign Language Interpreter Certification recognized in California (SLI CERT)
- Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational or school settings
- Strong command of American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with deaf culture
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to supporting student success
- Ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity and professionalism
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into ASLand vice versaduring classroom instruction, meetings, assemblies, and other school-related events
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and administrators to tailor services for student needs
- Ensure effective, accurate, and age-appropriate interpretation in a range of academic and extracurricular environments
- Support student participation and understanding both inside and outside the classroom
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to all applicable codes of ethics and school policies
